Looking for leadership opportunities ?
"Moving into CLO was a great choice for me. On top of the very diverse people I have met here, I had the opportunity to develop leadership skills as a common area manager. In the near future, as a finance, major I will run for the treasurer position. Managing a $160,000 annual budget would certainly be a very relevant experience."
[there is no obligation to take a leadership position]

What is a
housing Co-op?
It is a group of people, in this case, students, that live together and
work together to maintain their living environment. Every Resident is only
required to participate 1 hour per week. [top]
What do
I have to do to live there?
In order to be a resident, you must be an active student at the University
of Florida. You must be able to pay rent and willing to give back to the
community of CLO in the required duties as well as pitching in when extra
efforts are needed. [top]
What is
the structure of the organization?
The Collegiate Living Organization is set up much like a simple version of the U.S.
Government. We have 5 officers: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer,
and kitchen manager. They each have specific duties that are outlined in
our house manual. Along with the officers, we have a seven-member Board of Directors.
Their job is to be the voice of the co-op, protect the organization, and
provide checks and balances for the officers. [top]
What can
I contribute?
Every resident at CLO has something unique to offer. There are many roles
in such a large organization. Beyond officers and board members, we have
crews for the lawn, building maintenance, and up keep of all of the common
areas. Each officer also has assistants to help them with their responsibilities.
There is a general sense of working together for the good of the environment.
Our greatest resource is the people who live here. They bring in skills
and knowledge that help us when we have specific questions, as well as the
everyday business. It helps to have people from every major, culture, and
background; the more diverse the environment, the greater the possibilities.

What is
the co-op's capacity?
We have forty rooms in two buildings on either side of our commons building.
One is for men and one for women. Each room is designed for two students.
In total, we can house 80 students. [top]
How do
meals work?
A meal plan is included in the rent. We have a cook that prepares lunch
and dinner, Monday through Friday. It is buffet style with a hot bar and
a salad bar. This includes a vegetarian option at all meals. [top]
What do
I do with my car?
We have a parking lot that holds the majority of our residents' cars. They
are assigned according to seniority. All residents who are not assigned
a parking spot are reimbursed for a city decal. [top]
Is it
furnished?
Yes, each room is provided with two beds, two desks, two dressers, closet
space for two, and a full length mirror. [top]
Is it
affiliated with any group ?
CLO is only affiliated with UF. We don't have any affiliation with any religious
or political group. [top]
How
can I apply to CLO ?
You can apply online using our secure Membership Application and/or contact us to schedule a visit. [top]
What about
roommates?
We do roommate matching to find the best person for you. You can also room
with a friend. If in spite of our roommate matching you do not get along
with your roommate, you can speak to the President and they will try to match
you with someone else. [top]
Who lives
at CLO?
We have a wide variety of individuals from different states and countries.
We also have many different majors and a mixture of graduates and undergraduates.
All age groups are welcome. [top]
